Gone Up in Flames

I'm liking autumn now it doesn't rain all the time. All the roads are covered with the leaves from the plain trees. Or they would be, but council men come and sweep them up. I walk home in whats left, enjoying the crunching sound it makes under my feet and the fact that I am the only one in the street who is still childish enough to kick up the leaves like I am 5 again.

I spent most of the summer moaning that it felt like autumn was here already, but I was wrong, and oh, I forgot how lovely autumn is, too. Autumn has this rare, lush crispness, gorgeous. I love tramping through the leaves too. And in Brighton where I live the light changes completely in the late afternoon so that everything is bathed in a sour, changing glow - it's beautiful.

You mentioned in another post that you like 'Essex Dogs' by Blur - which in a linear way means I have to like you and your blog. And there's that cool lyric in that, too, which is a bit autumnal even if the song is set in the summer - 'and the way the night just seemed to turn the colour of orangeade'.

That said, I wish the clocks wouldn't go back this week. Daylight...
